Introduction to Science Policy

The Scientific Citizenship Initiative at HMS (SCI) is offering the Introduction to Science Policy online nanocourse for Harvard STEM graduate students and postdocs in Spring 2021. This is a 4-day program divided into 2-hour evening sessions ocurring twice per week for two weeks.

Deadline for registration is March 12 (registration link below). 

This interactive course will introduce the role of science and technology in creating public policy and the governance of the U.S. scientific enterprise.

Participants will engage with science policy experts in four 90-minute sessions designed to enhance professional skills needed for a variety of careers, including science policy. Students will benefit from a hands-on experience through weekly activities and a capstone assignment to apply the concepts learned throughout the week.

Course curriculum encompasses three pillars:

Foundations of Science Policy
Understand and identify core concepts at the intersection of science and policy.

Career Exploration
Discover the vast ecosystem of potential science policy careers.

Professional Development
Gain practical skills relevant to all careers through a series of exercises concluding with a science policy pitch.
