For the first Journal Club of the semester, we will be diving into some of the data behind a topic that has received a lot of attention lately: the use of GREs for graduate school admissions. The main paper we will discuss is [The Limitations of the GRE in Predicting Success in Biomedical Graduate School](https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0166742) by Moneta-Koehler et al. If you're interested in some more context for the discussion, [Predictors of Student Productivity in Biomedical Graduate School Applications](https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0169121) is a related paper that was published around the same time and [A test that fails](https://www.nature.com/naturejobs/science/articles/10.1038/nj7504-303a) was a 2014 commentary by Miller and Stassun that pushed this conversation forward. To keep the tradition going, **lunch will be provided** for this first meeting of the semester. Hope to see you there. CFP Journal Club is open to anyone interested in learning about new findings from the teaching and learning literature.
