DESCRIPTION:<h4>	Presenter:</h4><h4>	Bradley Coleman, PhD</h4><h4>	Co-director, HMS Curriculum Fellows Program</h4><div>	 </div><div>	For the first Journal Club of the semester, we will be diving into some of the data behind a topic that has received a lot of attention lately: the use of GREs for graduate school admissions. The main paper we will discuss is <a data-url="https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0166742" href="https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0166742" target="_blank" title="">The Limitations of the GRE in Predicting Success in Biomedical Graduate School</a> by Moneta-Koehler et al. If you're interested in some more context for the discussion, <a data-url="https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0169121" href="https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0169121" title="">Predictors of Student Productivity in Biomedical Graduate School Applications</a> is a related paper that was published around the same time and <a data-url="https://www.nature.com/naturejobs/science/articles/10.1038/nj7504-303a" href="https://www.nature.com/naturejobs/science/articles/10.1038/nj7504-303a" target="_blank" title="">A test that fails</a> was a 2014 commentary by Miller and Stassun that pushed this conversation forward.</div><div>	 </div><div>	To keep the tradition going, <strong>lunch will be provided</strong> for this first meeting of the semester. Hope to see you there. </div><div>	 </div><div>	CFP Journal Club is open to anyone interested in learning about new findings from the teaching and learning literature.</div>
