SUMMARY:Peer Instruction: Embracing the Value of the Novice (CFP Education Workshop Series)
DESCRIPTION:<h3>	Peer Instruction: Embracing the Value of the Novice</h3><h4>	Saoirse McSharry, PhD</h4><h4>	Curriculum Fellow, Cell Biology</h4><div style="text-align: center;">	 </div><div style="text-align: center;">	Education research shows that, just as researchers and clinicians continually learn from their colleagues, novice students in our classrooms can learn through activities that facilitate peer instruction. The success of such activities,</div><div style="text-align: center;">	however, depend on how we structure and plan for those tasks in advance. In this workshop, we will discuss the key</div><div style="text-align: center;">	elements of peer instruction that will help us embrace the value of our novice students to give them long-lasting</div><div style="text-align: center;">	learning experiences. Topics include benefits and challenges of peer instruction activities, how to prepare for a peer</div><div style="text-align: center;">	instruction lecture, and motivating students to “buy in”.</div>
