DESCRIPTION:<p style="margin:0in">	<span style="caret-color:#000000"><span style="color:#000000"><font color="#000000"><strong>WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION </strong></font></span></span></p><p style="margin:0in">	<span style="caret-color:#000000"><span style="color:#000000">What is your thought process in preparing a talk you are about to give? What are the most important aspects you consider? </span></span><span style="caret-color:#000000"><span style="color:#000000">In this 90-minute workshop we will help you “set the stage” for a good talk. Using iBiology (www.ibiology.org) course resources, you will learn about the importance of the framework – the audience, the goal, and the message, and the importance of storytelling – and why these components make a research talk effective. We will guide you through the process of the framework in the setting of your own talk, and we will practice how your goal and message change depending on the audience. Lastly, you will hear about various storytelling techniques and ways you can implement them when sharing your research. </span></span></p><p style="margin:0in">	 </p><p style="margin:0in">	<span style="caret-color:#000000"><span style="color:#000000"><font color="#000000"><strong>WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES</strong></font></span></span></p><ul style="caret-color:#000000;color:#000000">	<li style="margin:0in"> Describe the framework of a talk	</li>	<li style="margin:0in"> Explain why an effective talk is audience-centered	</li>	<li style="margin:0in"> Define the core message of your talk based on the audience and the goals of the talk	</li>	<li style="margin:0in"> Explain how different storytelling techniques can be used to make a research talk more effective	</li></ul><p style="margin:0in">	<span style="caret-color:#000000"><span style="color:#000000"><strong>WORKSHOP INSTRUCTORS </strong></span></span></p><p style="margin:0in">	<span style="caret-color:#000000"><span style="color:#000000">Elie Maksoud, PhD </span></span></p><p style="margin:0in">	<span style="caret-color:#000000"><span style="color:#000000"><em>Course director of Share Your Research: How to Give a Good Talk, iBiology</em></span></span></p><p style="margin:0in">	<span style="caret-color:#000000"><span style="color:#000000">Jelena Patrnogic, PhD </span></span></p><p style="margin:0in">	<span style="caret-color:#000000"><span style="color:#000000"><em>Curriculum Fellow &amp; Lecturer at HMS</em></span></span></p><p style="margin:0in">	 </p><p style="margin:0in">	<span style="caret-color:#000000"><span style="color:#000000"><strong>WORKSHOP ENROLLMENT</strong></span></span></p><p style="margin:0in">	<span style="caret-color:#000000"><span style="color:#000000"><font color="#000000">Workshop is limited to 20 participants. </font></span></span></p><p style="margin:0in">	 </p><h2 style="margin:0in">	<strong><font color="#000000"><span style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">REGISTRATION FOR THIS WORKSHOP IS NOW CLOSED. </span></font></strong></h2><p style="margin:0in">	 </p>
