Online learning is becoming a more common tool for professional development and continuing education, yet only a minority of students complete online courses in which they enroll. In this workshop we will explore the challenges in engaging the online learner and brainstorm solutions. We will present the Teaching the Great Diseases program, an online suite of graduate mini-courses for high school biology teachers, and use a lesson from the curriculum to guide our conversation. Come ready for discussion!
