What is a benefit of using multiple choice questions in assessments? They can be: A) Quickly, consistently, and objectively graded B) Used to assess conceptual understanding of course material C) Easily iterated to create different versions of the same assessment D) All of the above Multiple choice questions (MCQs) are one of the most commonly used assessment instruments, but often aren’t used effectively to support learning goals. This workshop will explore pros and cons of using multiple choice questions and common misconceptions around their use. The workshop will then demonstrate effective MCQ use and offer strategies for writing strong multiple choice questions.
